Concealed Mounting for Solid Walls
Make a template out of cardboard with the exact locations of the mounting studs.
Place template on wall and mark locations for holes.
Make sure to mark centering lines for holes on wall.
Drill depth of holes slightly deeper than length of mounting studs.
First drill holes with a bit slightly smaller in diameter than the mounting studs.
Then re-drill the holes with a bit slightly larger in diameter than the mounting studs, leaving enough of the smaller diameter hole to secure and hold the mounting stud.
Put the plaque in place to make sure mounting studs fit holes.
Use an epoxy or cement designed for this type of application to fill holes.
Coat mounting studs with some of the epoxy/cement before placing in holes.
Press plaque into position, tapping with a padded block and mallet to drive mounting studs into small diameter part of hole.
It may be necessary to brace sign tight against the wall until the cement has enough time to set.
Fastening Through Face
Make a template out of cardboard and mark the wall for hole locations.
Make sure to mark the centering line for holes on the wall.
When mounting to masonry try to place the plaque so either top or bottom anchors will be in mortar joints, making them easier to drill.
When using expansion anchors, drill holes just large enough in diameter and depth to accommodate anchor.
Place anchor in hole and set with anchor expansion tool.
With plaque in place, turn screws into expansion anchors.
When rosettes are furnished to cover screw heads, simply screw into threaded hole in head of screw.
The same general instructions apply for toggle bolt, rawl plug and wood screw type fasteners.
